Founders Marlow Ferguson & Karon Sue Semones
Playhouse Staff
Everyone who works at the Star City Playhouse does it purely for the love of theatre.
Director and Owner
Marlow Ferguson was an Equity Actor in New York for 35 years. In addition he wrote for the BBC radio and has directed all over the country. He sold his apartment building in Manhattan to buy an 1851 church 11 miles out of NYC. For a decade he worked on not only saving the historic structure but formed an excellent theater company known as The Elizabeth Playhouse.
His view of theatre includes the desire to create an artistic community for actors to learn their craft, as well as providing affordable art for all. The Star City Playhouse is the sixth theater he's helped to create and when not covered in plaster dust, he manages to take care of the commercial property that supports our artistic efforts here, but also his cutie Karon Sue, his grandson Alex and occasionally can be found sitting still with his best bud, Neddy the cat. He loves being "home" in Roanoke.
